The aim of this article is to aid with the installation of the Union DoorSense fire door retainer. This product is a standalone unit that can be fixed to internal fire doors to enable automatic closure in the case of a fire alarm.
Tools required.
- Drill and drill bit 3mm & 6mm
- 2 C Batteries (Included)
- Screwdriver
- Phillips Screw Head
Instructions.
Note: Ensure that your fire door has a separate door closer installed.
Begin by removing the top panels of the DoorSense with a screwdriver and inserting two C Batteries into the panel.
Attach the provided drill template sticker onto the door so that the lower section is as close to the floor as possible, directly below the door handle.
Using a 3mm drill bit, drill four holes 20mm deep onto the marked areas. Remove the drill template and secure the retainer to the door with a convex screw in each of the four corners.
Line up the floorplate and mark the floor holes with a pen. Remove the plate and use a 6mm masonry drill bit to drill four holes 30mm deep into the floor.
Insert crawl plugs and match up the floor plate with the retainer and press down the retainer foot to keep the door open. Now, you need to activate your fire alarm and use the acoustic button to allow the retainer to learn the sound of your alarm.
