Night latches, also known as Yale locks, are commonly used as a secondary security method alongside a 5-lever mortice lock on front doors to keep homes, flats and other properties safe. Night latches feature a lever handle on the inside of the door which is used to release the latch and open the door. To open the door from the outside, you will need a key to operate the euro cylinder of the latch.
At Ironmongery Experts, we stock a variety of high-quality night latch locks, including rim latches, deadlocking night latches and mortice night latches. Door rim latches or door rim locks are fitted on the surface of the door. Some of our best-selling rim door locks include the Black Cylinder 60mm Broad Nightlatch and the Black Cylinder 40mm Narrow Nightlatch.
Deadlocking night latches can only be opened with a key. Night latch deadlocks, such as the Era Satin Chrome 60mm Nightlatch, can be fully locked from the outside using a key. These cannot be opened from the inside when locked as the handle will be disabled.
Mortice latches are fitted into the inside of a door for a neat and tidy look. The 152mm PVD Brass Mortice Latch is a great choice. In addition to our rim and mortice latches, we also stock a variety of other door lock mechanisms, including sashlocks and mortice deadlocks.
