Push and pull signs are used to clearly indicate how to operate certain doors and are ideal for schools, hospitals, restaurants and other commercial buildings that have high traffic doorways. On a two-way door, push and pull signs are highly necessary to eliminate the risk of people accidentally hitting others coming from the other side while pushing an unmarked door.

Our selection of push and pull signs are highly durable, being made from stainless-steel, aluminium and rigid plastics. We have a wide range of signs available, including screw mounted signs, such as polished brass pull signs and polished brass push signs, as well as self-adhesive signs which ensure ease of installation. In case you require knowing how to install a screw mounted push sign, continue reading our guide below.

Materials

  • Push sign
  • Screws
  • Screwdriver
  • Pencil
  • Drill
  • Wall anchors (if drilling into wall)
  • Spirit level

Push or pull signs need to be positioned in an area where people can easily and clearly see them. There are two main options when positioning signs, on the door itself or on the wall next to the door at an eye level.

Once you’re happy with the placement of the sign, ensure it is straight with the help of a spirit level and then, mark the screw holes with a pencil.

If you are placing the sign on a wall, drill into the markings and insert wall anchors. Place the sign on the wall and fasten the screws with a screwdriver.

If you are placing the sign on a door, simply hold the sign on the wall and screw the fixings into the door through the screw holes.

And that’s it; the sign is now installed and ready to be used. At Ironmongery Experts, we have a large selection of other door signs you might require, including fire exit signs and toilet signs, among a variety of other signage products.
