Door knobs are the preferred door handle style in many traditional buildings and restoration houses. These feature highly decorative designs, including porcelain door knobs, glass door knobs, oval door knobs and mushroom door knobs and are available in a vast range of finishes, including polished brass, satin chrome, polished chrome and Florentine bronze.

A big selling point for door knobs is that these can work with doors that swing in either direction. However, if you live with elderly people or children you should consider lever handles on a backplate or lever handles on rose as door knobs can be difficult to operate. Lever handles on a backplate are a more traditional type of lever handle which sits on a backplate, whilst lever handles on rose are more contemporary handles which sit on small round roses.
