There are four different types of safety signs in the UK: mandatory, emergency, prohibition and warning signs. There are also various other signs, used for general information.  

Mandatory signs  

Mandatory signs outline specific behaviour that needs to be completed. These signs are blue circles with white text or symbols in the middle. Emergency signs  

Emergency signs display information regarding emergency exits, rescue facilities and first aid. They are often green rectangles with white text and/or symbols. Warning signs

While the following signs are not used to point out dangers or hazards, they are still essential to any commercial building. 

Push and pull signs 

Push and pull signs are used to indicate how to open a door. While it may seem obvious, as there are only two possible solutions, these signs can save time and eliminate awkward moments.
