At Ironmongery Experts, we supply a large selection of door furniture by Carlisle Brass, amongst other ironmongery products, such as window hardware and bathroom fittings. This UK-based architectural ironmongery designer and manufacturer crafts a wide range of high-quality modern products, including the contemporary matte black Varense knurled lever on rose.
This door lever was designed in Carlisle and made in Italy with stylish antique brass. It features a modern yet classic feel and has a knurled lever for enhanced grip.
Sold as a pair and supplied with fixing screws and 8mm diameter spindle bar, this door handle is fire door rated (FD 30/60) and comes with a 25-year mechanical guarantee.
For ease of installation, each order from Carlisle Brass comes with a fixings pack to assist your installation process.
Fitting Instructions:
With a bradawl, mark out of the centre hole depending on the back set of your lock/latch. Use a 20mm diameter bit to drill the centre hole through the door.
Insert the provided spindle into the lever and tightly fix the grub screw, making sure you can pass the spindle through the door to secure it to the opposite lever.
Move the lever up to the door so that the spindle passes through the centre hole for the latch/lock and mark the outer holes. Then repeat with the second lever on the opposite side and secure.
Remove the lever from the door and use a 5mm diameter drill bit to fix the outer holes, then a 2mm diameter drill bit for the outer most holes.
Move the lever up to the door so that the spindle passes through the centre hole for the latch/lock and female fixings to pass through the 5mm diameter holes.
Move the second lever up to the opposite side of the door and insert the male fixings through the back of the 5mm holes. Use a screwdriver to tighten each of the male bolts to secure the lever onto the door.
Use a screwdriver and screws provided to secure the lever in place on the outer most holes. Once secured, tighten the remaining grub screw and recheck that everything is secure. If the handle is too stiff, check the alignment of the screws.
Guide the outer rose covers over the lever and screw in firmly.

Care Guide
To care for your new Varese knurled lever, clean with a damp cloth and soapy water or a soft clean cloth with beeswax. Under no circumstances use a metal cleaner or aerosol spray to clean. A fresh coat of lacquer may be applied, but we strongly recommend that, especially for external use, you should leave the item unlacquered.
For a cohesive look throughout your property, we would recommend purchasing other ironmongery and hardware which features a similar style.
